Exactly what Anet must have thought.
PvE players have been QQ-ing about some sort of emote. Now they can buy themselves a title with farmed gold.
And like everything which is PvP-based: It is most likely that not many people will ever max it. Some PvP players have played PvP for more than 3 years now and most aren't even halfway of maxing some title.
Thus it's good that this title has a very high max-tier. Most likely nobody will max it soon. Something which may sound odd to PvE players who can max-out most titles in less than a 3 years.

Disappointed in ANET - New Track Emotes
I've been playing GW since its inception, and had to come here to vent about the new Track and its emotes.
I think it is GREAT that we finally have some new emotes. I would venture to say it would probably also be great if there were an emote for each of the PVP arenas.
However, the notion that emotes can now be PURCHASED disgusts me. Along with a number of other pvpers, we've put in countless hours building up whatever title we can (gladiator points in my case). Now, it is all for nothing...as some noob can come in with a ton of gold and buy a nice fat emote.
It actually seems like more of a penalty to veteran pvp players than anything else the more I think about it. I've spent about an hour a night over the past year working to glad 4 and now some career PVE Wammo has a killer emote that took him about a week to buy?
ANET, I love the idea of adding more emotes to the game. LOVE IT! Please just dont let anyone with a bank account buy them though. Try to reward the veteran pvp players. Perhaps maybe base something off total balth points earned...maybe *cough* give glads an emote *cough*.
Im sure the community has better ideas, ask for them.
Finally, when you release new titles or things of that nature, maybe you could let us know before hand what we could hold on to....so people like me dont go and use up 50 z-keys a week before you release a title based on z-keys.

I'm promoting that we get points in the title based on how much faction we have unlocked into our account up to now.
That would be enough to get me to not be stressed about this title.
@ brad- - Thanks for placing that post in the correct spot now.

Sorry, brad, that your thread was moved here. I would've done the same if I was a mod though, hehe.
What we need is more quality content. The kind of content that will keep us happily occupied with GW until GW2. So if anyone wants to start a petition to make Anet add like 15 more titles I'll gladly sign it!!!
On another note:
Isn't it time for someone to put an "Add New Title" key on the infamous ANET Dev Keyboard!?

It all comes down to balance I think. PvP players have an emote (yes, I have gotten an HA emote, I know how hard it is), so they think they need to be fair and make one accessible to PvE players. However, I don't think PvP players should be as upset as they are, because the emotes are very different from one another. It will still be easy to tell the difference between a Golden Spear and a R9 Tiger. Everyone needs to remember that. A Gold spear is not more leet than a Tiger. I personally think it is a good thing they have done.

So while other games like WoW are trying to reduce grind in their games by adding easier ways to obtain money, less exp needed for leveling up, more exp rewards from questing, Anet is ADDING MORE GRIND?
So why bother pretending to fight RMT when you're actually pushing players to feel the need to get even more gold?
And don't tell me it's optional. Everything, and I repeat, EVERYTHING, IN EVERY GAME is optional. You can get into Lineage2 as a level 1 character and go dance around in a town and have fun talking to people or getting killed by high level mobs, as long as you're having fun and happy.

Yeah, good idea Anet. Replace REAL MONEY with Reward Points, which can only be made into Keys...
I guess that's basically telling GvGers to ebay their gold...because really, why would anyone need 900 keys (or 4.5 mill gold) for winning a mAT?
At least gold prices are high ($185/mill), so the GvGers can get $840ish for winning the mAT. I guess Anet took that into account, because the reward value seems about the same.

Yep. We simply dont appreciate that anet makes stuff that is more likely to make them ragequit (or give up) than keep playing.

Exactly. PvE titles should be fun to get to begin with. Quest title looks incredibly cool compared to this ... zaishen thing.
But given anet knack of getting stuff done the right way it would be title for repeating repeatable quests.

Ok, so I'm not a whizz with photoshop....I'll remove this when someone does a better job
I don't really PvP much, but I guess if I can get keys from my monthly predictions then I would slowly crawl up to rank 1.....possibly get some nice screenshots of spearing hardmode bosses....other than that this update doesn't really affect me. It's always nice when they release new free stuff, and then it's up to the players whether or not they want to make use of it. It's a shame that it isn't retroactive for all those players who used z-keys before this update (I'm also reminded of using up a stack of fireworks to clear space in my storage a week before they introduced the party animal title).

Zaishen Title Track (emote) is absurd and hypocrit
Please, before starting flames, bear in mind that this thread is a result of a mere 10 minutes of speculation and brainstorming over ventrilo.
POINT 1: What is the new Zaishen Title Track?
Quote:
When you use a Zaishen Key on a Zaishen Chest, you get 5 Zaishen Reputation Points. The Zaishen Reputation points are applied to a brand new account-based title track, the Zaishen Title. You can buy a Zaishen Key from Tolkano for either 5000 Balthazar Faction or 5 Tournament Reward Points
|
(.....)
Quote:
For each Rank you have on the Zaishen Title track, you will get a special emote that shows off your Title. To display your emote, just type /zaishen or /zrank. When you type in the emote command, the weapons listed below will dramatically fall from the sky and embed themselves into the ground in front of you. The Zaishen Rank emotes were created to be very interactive. For example, if you position yourself correctly, you can use it as a finishing move after you defeat someone!
|
POINT 2: The Track is a result of a one-days job and is totally unoriginal
Quote:
Rank Reputation Points Needed Title Name
1: 250 Zaishen Supporter
2: 500 Friend of the Zaishen
3: 1000 Companion of the Zaishen
4: 1680 Ally of the Zaishen
5: 2800 Sentinel of the Zaishen
6: 4660 Steward of the Zaishen
7: 7750 Defender of the Zaishen
8: 12960 Warden of the Zaishen
9: 21600 Bastion of the Zaishen
10: 36000 Champion of the Zaishen
11: 60000 Hero of the Zaishen
12: 100000 Legendary Hero of the Zaishen (personally i would change this to "pro armbrace duper")
|
For example, let's take a look here. The title names and number of ranks are directly taken from the Alliance battle titles, with exception of the 12th title (Legendary Hero of the Zaishen instead of Saviour of the Kurzicks/Luxons). Futhermore, from Rank 3-Rank 12 on the amount of zaishen reputation points is exactly the same as the amount of fame needed from R6-R15 hero.
POINT 3: The Emote
This is quoted from another thread by "Rafal"

Now, I remember times when someone could get reported then de-ranked and/or temp banned for making rank emote over enemy's dead body in HA because of unsportsmanlike behaviour.
How come, now ANet encourages players to do such things?
|
This is a very valid point and proves ArenaNet's promotion of bad behaviour by encorporating an emote like this. You see, when you position yourselves in front of a dead body it seems as if the spear/hammer/axe cleave the opponent's body, while he is helplessly lying on the ground. Oh and while your at it, ArenaNet, can you make my tiger eat the person's corpse please? Would be pretty cool kthnx. And the wolf emote should be able to poo on the corpse, yeah that sounds good.
POINT 4: Why an emote for this title?
The emote shows a spear (and later an axe and a hammer) cleave the ground in front of the user.
In my view, this has little to do with a chest run title, but I won't start on this.
The point is, why does ArenaNet make an emote for a chest-run title, while players have been asking for gladiator and champion rank emotes for quite some time now. This emote could have been used for gladiator or champion, since it looks like it has more to do with combat than it has with chest running...moreover, this might give players an impulse to participate in RA/TA/GvG more often.
I'm out of time for now, I'll continue later today.

Why does this title matter to you?
Nobody is going to be sat in TA ID1 or HA ID1 spamming LFM r5+ Zaishen! Anyone with a clue realizes that this was never intended to be a PvP title. Ok, it may not be a PvE title either, but it provides a fairly good middle ground for people from either side to earn it.
Like has been pointed out many times in this thread already, absolutely any title in the game is farmable/buyable. Much like them you can earn your ZKeys or you can buy them.
Why the emote? It looks cool, and it gives more incentive for people to buy keys, pushing up their value and giving PvP players a source of revenue other than selling invites/guilds.

I could not agree more, I was thinking along that lines, too.
They add potentially buyable titles. But I doubt people will really buy this title, it costs just too much. This is probably not meant as one of the "maxable" titles.
And then they put in reminders not to buy gold. Probably even think they added a money sink. But actually the money only gets exchanged between players, not removed from the game...
You are right, WoW added more XP to the old world mobs, removed prequest requirements, added new quests to zones to allow faster levelling and even the heavy grind part of the game, the FACTION gain part in the expansion, for Scryers, Aldor and other Factions like the Skyguard and the Netherwing feels like a minor chore compared to the GW Faction grind.
You get multiple times faster exalted with the Netherwing Drakes and get a flying mount (a small dragon) than getting halfway through the Zaishen title track.
And while this title grind is kinda repetitive and boring, the things you have to do for GW titles are even more repetitive. Opening chests, drinking beer, anyone? I just wonder who got this "Factions" idea as a new way to make people grind, it is rampant in WoW and GW nowadays. The way Arcane Tomes are handled to gain faction as random drops from mobs associated with the Scryers or Aldor is even a bit more elegant than the GW book solution, which is still among the better ones in terms of GW faction grind.
And GW was the game that I believe to be low on grind.
The sad part is that they made title grind the game. I must say they rather scare me away than make me want to grind erm play the game.

most people will get to R1 and quit, no big deal. PvPer's will most likely keep selling keys and PvEer's will hopefully be smart enough to realize that buying a title at 1k a rep point (keys are now 5k) is the not the best thing to spend money on.

Who cares?
At least anet are still putting effort into new additions for the game that we all play.
And if you really get offended by ranking then lol.
Also, i personally think this means they're planning more small additions (glad emote maybe). But they add this first so that they minimise the PvE base QQing that the PvP base get something they can't get. But hey it's just speculation.

Actually i disaggree, its a pretty graphically impressive emote, it probably took a while to design, I love the impact of the weapons and the way the shockwave flows outward, the R12 in the promo vid is pretty pwnage imo, its just the way it is earned that is a bit shite.
